DMP Diniyyah Puteri Won 2015 Padang Panjang Debate Championship!

Today, 1st of October 2015, seems to be a super good day for Diniyyah Puteri students. The long-awaited debate competition between junior high schools in Padang Panjang has finally arrived.

The morning started at 08.00, and the event was opened by the leading adjudicator; UNP lecturer. The adjudicator explained the rules of debate rounds, the role of each speaker, the timing and, of course, the motions. Preliminary rounds proposed 5 motions that were already stated in the invitation letters. Meaning, the debaters had more than a month to prepare their materials and strategies.

Out of 5 rounds (10 teams), 4 were chosen to compete at semifinal. Surprisingly, both of Diniyyah Puteri teams were selected to be part of semifinal! The worries and nervousness of both students and teachers were suddenly gone. We were pumped with energy!

Diniyyah Puteri Goes To Privincial Debate Competition

English debating skill requires a high focus, sufficient multidisciplinary knowledge, mature emotional control, ability to convey thoughts in academic manners, and of course English language. It is not an easy task for anyone at any age, but once someone has this requirement and is highly interested in English debating activity, doors of future opportunities are wide open.

Yesterday on 22nd September 2015, Ministry of Education in Padang Panjang held an annual English debate competition for high school students. The agenda aims to find the best speakers whom will be sent to represent Padang Panjang to compete in provincial level of debate competition. For this occasion, Diniyyah Puteri proposed one group consisting 3 students. They are Nadira Asyiah Arrin, Nadira Salsabila Suharjon, and Rizna Annisa Rizal.

Morning Class

Started today, DEC has pioneered a new program called "Morning Class". You might be familiar with school schedule which begins at 08.00 or 07.30, but Diniyyah Puteri students start their school activity at 06.30, for English Morning class. That's right! Even when the morning dew hasn't found the first light of the sun, our students have been ready with bags packed and passions set to meet their English instructors.

"I personally hope this program will help the students achieve higher TOEFL score, and also their English skill for daily life and school need," commented Miss Melia Febrianti, one of DEC English tutors. She continued, "Because the lessons mostly come in the form of vocabularies (and sample sentences), students get more easily to forget. This is a challenge for them, but the diligent students have proven to success as long as they do their best to succeed."

TOEFL-Integrated Class in Diniyyah Puteri

Diniyyah English Center as the foreign language learning center in Diniyyah Puteri Padang Panjang, has awarded a big responsibility to help students improve their TOEFL® scores for two reasons:
(1) the score will be one of the requirements to graduate from Diniyyah Puteri, and
(2) as international opportunities are more on open access, it cannot be denied that TOEFL® score plays a crucial role to succeed in being a global citizen.

Beginning this educational year, Diniyyah Puteri has integrated TOEFL® materials to formal classes. Designed by DEC team and collaborated with school teachers, TOEFL® classes prepare the students for a high score on their TOEFL®  exam by focusing on test-taking strategies and highlighting the academic English skills needed.

The classes include listening, structure and written expression reading, plus practice exam questions and simulation tests. By becoming accustomed to the test-taking environment, DEC expect the students will get used to the test and succeed in their TOEFL® exam.

A Visit from Finland

Talking about education, in the current years, there is one country that has been becoming the spotlight. Finland, a country 9.000 km away from Indonesia. What are the odds that Diniyyah Puteri Padang Panjang was chosen to be one of three main visits from a key person who has been directing The Dream School Project since its birth? But odds were in our favor, Mr. Allan Schneitz spent a week in Diniyyah Puteri to talk about this project and sign an MoA with us!
