DEC visit to Global Village

DEC and GV team posing together
Today, Diniyyah English Center had an opportunity to visit Global Village in Bukit Batabuah, Candung, Bukit Tinggi. Now for you guys who do not know about this village, let us give a brief explanation (taken from the founder's LinkedIn profile).

The Global Village is a community based-system for rural development. It is also an equal opportunity as well as a poverty alleviation strategy.

OBJECTIVES OF THE GLOBAL VILLAGE
  1. To establish an informal education system based on the principles of on fairness and equal opportunities.
  2. To reach out for students of poor families and encourage those from middle class and above to develop higher motivation for success.
  3. Te help develop "inner drive, international attitude and capabilities" that will open up children's career perspectices
  4. To develop entrepreneurship through creative business concepts from villages

The coordinator of Diniyyah English Center once was freelancing in Global Village for a few months. The learning system of GV, as we call it to simplify, is highly applicable in Diniyyah Puteri. The visit is aimed to give a real picture of the learning system, so the DEC team will find it easier to apply in Diniyyah Puteri.

GV students and the Princess (teacher)

Children come to GV with high motivation

Around GV you will see many posters, some of them are English conversation we might find useful to use in daily life

Without their Princess, students could learn with Superbuddy

After the class, students take their own chair and arrange it in the basement
The enthusiasm of students and the volunteering spirit that are so obvious around GV have inspired the surrounding townspeople to at least pay a visit this place. DEC team expects to create the similar eagerness in their English classes.
