Diniyyah Puteri Goes To Privincial Debate Competition

English debating skill requires a high focus, sufficient multidisciplinary knowledge, mature emotional control, ability to convey thoughts in academic manners, and of course English language. It is not an easy task for anyone at any age, but once someone has this requirement and is highly interested in English debating activity, doors of future opportunities are wide open. 

Yesterday on 22nd September 2015, Ministry of Education in Padang Panjang held an annual English debate competition for high school students. The agenda aims to find the best speakers whom will be sent to represent Padang Panjang to compete in provincial level of debate competition. For this occasion, Diniyyah Puteri proposed one group consisting 3 students. They are Nadira Asyiah Arrin, Nadira Salsabila Suharjon, and Rizna Annisa Rizal.

The debate rounds went incredibly exciting. The arguments confrontation and rivalry could not get more fascinating. After series of round, the jury had to decide which groups deserve to sit on top of others. The best news is, Diniyyah Puteri made it into top four. The groups in the top four will undertake debate training sessions provided by the local government. The question is: who is the best speaker? And who will represent this lovely city for provincial level?

The best speaker did not come from the 1st group winner. That’s right, Diniyyah Puteri group is the home of the best speaker. Rizna Annisa Rizal, student of 1st KMI Diniyyah Puteri, came out as the best speaker of the competition. Born as the first child with five younger siblings, Rizna commented that SMA 2 Padang Panjang was their hardest opponent. The debate round between Diniyyah Puteri and SMA 2 went extremely challenging, for the ideas and arguments were almost equally tough and thought-provoking. 

The winners’ next agenda would be a series of follow-up debate session (training and internal rounds between the winners only, provided with UNP trainers) from which the government will decide who else will represent Padang Panjang for the provincial debate in April 2016. DEC team wish the best for Diniyyah Puteri debate team and other teams from SMA 1 and SMA 2 Padang Panjang. May our beautiful city come out as the first winner for West Sumatera!
